About Me

Hello! This site will be your source of communication about my English classes and extracurricular activities. Here you'll find things like course outlines, class expectations, homework, class resources and more. I am the sponsor of our ADL World of Difference Peer Training and No Place for Hate® program, and will have information about what our Peer Trainers are up to in the freshmen classrooms. As of March 2013 Mingus was officially designated a No Place for Hate® campus. Read more about this in the ADL World of Difference and No Place for Hate tab.

This is my 21st year of teaching at Mingus Union High School.  I am originally from Palo Alto, California, but the Verde Valley has been my home for over 20 years now. I live in Old Town Cottonwood with my husband, John, and our two dogs Jack and Sasha. When I’m not teaching, I spend my time traveling, which has been my passion since my first trip to Europe when I was 19 years old.

I graduated with my B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University in 1991 and returned to San Francisco. After a couple of years I realized I missed the big skies of Arizona and returned to Flagstaff where I earned my teaching credential in English. At Mingus I have taught every level of English, and while I love the curriculum of all my classes, I have to admit that I have a special fondness for my Honors and AP Lit classes.
