About Me

Hello! This site will be your source of communication about my English classes. Here you'll find things like course outlines, class expectations, homework, class resources and more. Please take some time to explore this site and make a note to check the calendar daily for the activities and assignments in Honors English 9 and 10.

This is my 24th year of teaching at Mingus Union High School.  I am originally from Palo Alto, California, but the Verde Valley has been my home for almost 25 years now. I live in Old Town Cottonwood with my husband, John, and our two dogs Jack and Sasha. When I’m not teaching, I spend my time traveling, which has been my passion since my first trip to Europe when I was 19 years old.

I graduated with my B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University in 1991 and returned to San Francisco. After a couple of years I realized I missed the big skies of Arizona and returned to Flagstaff where I earned my teaching credential in English. At Mingus I have taught every level of English, and while I love the curriculum of all my classes, I have to admit that I have a special fondness for the rigor and exploration of the craft of writing and storytelling in my Honors classes.
